Presario 2500 boots into BIOS Setup every time
I have a customers Presario 2500 which boots directly into the BIOS everytime I turn it on. I don't see any obvious problems in the BIOS, the hard drive is being picked up correctly. The machine is an XP machine

I have seen this happen a few times when the backup battery on the motherboard is dead. The diagnostic for this case is that the BIOS holds its settings as long as the system is plugged in, but loses them after the system is unplugged for an hour or so.
I've also seen this occur when BIOS corruption has occurred. Normally, this results in a POST error message such as "BIOS checksum error." However, if the quick POST is enabled, this error may be hidden underneath the manufacturer's splash screen. In this case, re-flashing the BIOS may cure the problem -- but it may also cause other problems, so leave this as a last resort after all other possibilities have been exhausted.
