Virtual PC Bridge Networking (Or alternative)

Greetings,

We have a set of training sessions with our customers coming up soon. We use virtual PC on WIndows 7 laptops in order to install the training software on. We were asked to have the ability for other devices to access the services on this virtual machine. However, the hosts will be on wireless. I have not been able to get bridged networking to work with Virtual PC on wireless. Is there a trick to this? When I do it the VM doesn't even get an IP address.

Do you mean WiFi wireless? or 3G Wireless?   There is no particular reason why Bridged networking should not work with WiFi assuming your WiFi is also a source of DHCP.  However, if you are using 3G wireless or have statically connected your host to the wireless access point, then you need to use NAT.

I'm speaking of WiFi - I agree - no reason why it shouldn't work but it doesn't pull down an IP address w/ DHCP.

I have (many times) tested WiFi and Bridged connections with VMware Workstation and it works fine. So as a first step, I would see if you could reinstall Virtual PC.  ... Thinkpads_User

If you abandoned Virtual PC and gone with a VMware product, which I use and pointed to as successful in my above posts, have I not helped you ?   ... Thinkpads_User
