Excel 2010 Professional crashes constantly

Hi, from the error code and faulting module I would guess that an Excel add-in is at fault.  Try disabling all of the addins to see if this resolves the issue.  Office Live Addin is the culprit for similar failures in Excel 2007, perhaps 2010 has same issues.

To determine if an add-in is at fault, start Excel in safe mode (on the command line, enter Excel.exe /s).  If the problem does not persist in safemode, it's safe to assume an addin is at fault - disable and enable back one at a time till you find the offending adding.

MSO.dll module failures are usually add-in related.  Even if disabled, double check that the Office Live add-in is not there, removing it can help.  

Other ideas:  
Are the files you are attempting to save being saved locally, or to a network location?  If you have mapped network drives, which are not connected, try unmapping them prior to saving.  If saving to a network location, verify paths, connection and rights prior to save.  If printing to a network printer, ensure connection is as it should be.

Are any macros enabled in the spreadsheets you are trying to save/print?  If so, disable macros and try again.

If using Symantec Antivirus products, the Norton office plug in has been known to mess with mso.dll.  Try disabling a/v and save/print.

Final suggestion is that the "normal" template for Excel 2010 may have been corrupted.  Re-installing Excel will not usually address that issue.  Try replacing book.xlt (could be located in either C:\Documents and Settings\"Username"\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE14\XLSTART
Depending on how you installed Excel, the file may not be there at all, so don't worry if you can't find it.  If not there, create a book.xlt file on another PC and place it in the abovenamed locations.

Thanks for your assistance.  As it turns out it appears to be some problem with a printer driver.  How that affects file/save I don't know.  But once I removed the HP Officejet 5400 printer, the problem seemed to go away.  When I added it back the problem occurred once again.  I've removed the printer, which is shared from another pc.  I will go back and connect it via a network lead and see if this solves the problem.

I will post back the results.

Just an FYI:  problems with the default printer or the default printer's driver CAN effect how Excel, Outlook and other programs run because those programs take the default printer into account when opening and saving files, not just when printing files.

I've seen situations where Outlook and Excel won't even open or you'll get "please install a printer" error even though a printer is installed.  One way to test to see if the default printer is the issue: change the default to another printer that uses a different driver.  If you that "fixes" the problem in Excel, you know it's a problem with that printer or that printer's driver.

A few times, removing & re-instaling the driver didn't work to resolve these issues.  Only completely removing the printer & re-installing it from scratch resolved the problem (probably because of a corrupt printer installation).

Another time, Excel wouldn't launch at all because of a funky printer port name.  Instead of IP_XX.XX.XX.XX, one of my predecessors had given the IP port the name of BusinessOffice.  Creating a new printer port with the default IP name fixed it.
