So I am not really a web programmer by trade so please forgive misuse of terms.

I am running some pretty simple Code where I want to create a basic iframe to embed a webpage. When I run this it brings the page up but does not give me the ability to logon to the site. Is there a way to accomplish this objective? Thanks
<html>

<body background='images\gui\logo_bg.gif'>

<h2>HTML Portlet</h2>

Displays your personal HTML portlet.

<iframe src='http://XXXX:8080/logon.jsp' width=100% height = 700></iframe>

</body>

</html>

what if you just include the jsp in iframe?
<iframe width=100% height = 700>
  <jsp:include page="http://XXXX:8080/logon.jsp"/>
</iframe>

When you give the source attribute value to iframe, any file will be simply included as html file only, not the PROCESSED jsp. Since jsp is processed at server only.

So that looks like how you inculde a jsp in a jsp. I am trying to inculde a jsp in a HTML iframe so that it allows me to fill out the "form" and logon. It brings up the page but I can't logon  I am thinking this may be a security constraint that is fundamental to the way JSP plays with others.

<<It brings up the page but I can't logon>>
What exactly is happening? I meant that you are getting some error or something else?

Nothing happens that is the issue. There is no error nothing.

So If I go to the url using my browser it give's me a login screen that I can type credentials into.

If I emebed the same url into an iframe it does no bring the logon screen at all. I can't type anything it doesn't actually have the area that you would enter the information just the frame and logos around it.
