HP NC8430 laptop with new intall of Windows 7. HP psc1210xi all in one printer. WIndows does not detect this printer. It detects other usb devices okay. I tried a manual install and that did not work either.

Well since you said it detects other devices without an issue then the port works fine.  If it doesn't detect the printer, then there is usually one of two issues in my experience (1) the USB cable is bad.  Have you tried a different cable?  (2) the printer may be broken.  Can you connect it to another computer and confirm it works?

Download the full application for WIndows 7 32/64 bit. Unplug the printer, install the application, once you start the application installation, it will ask to plug the cable. Turn the printer on and plug the cable and click next. Application will force the printer to get detected and install the driver. Once finished, exit the install and try to print any page, you should be good.

Okay. I did install the all in one driver, printer still not detected. I changed the cable, and the device was detected, but only the scanner. Windows 7 reprots there is no driver for the printer. I downloaded and ran the HP test that looks for drivers, and it reproted that I had no printer driver for this device. I go to HP to download driver but for Windows 7 HP has no driver and says that Windows 7 will self detect and install the printer with windows driver. Forehead sore from banging against the wall...
