Hi All,

I'm having problem in starting the Symantec VSS writer from the services console, see the following diagnosis log,

Can anyone share their experience in resolving this issue please ?

This happens on Windows Server 2008 Standard x64 which has SQL Server 2008 SP1 and SharePoint 2007 SP2

Thanks,
JJ

The user that runs the symantec service, is it a local administrator on the machine?  Also, have you removed the credentials and added them back in on the service?

The Backup Exec VSS Provider service should have a start up type of Manual running under the Local System Account. The VSS Writer error you are receiving I belive is being caused by a version difference between the remote agent on the B/E media server and remote agent on the remote server. Please verify the verion type of the beremote.exe file on both the media server and remote server are the same.

Anytime you do an update on the media server you should reinstall the remote agents on the remote servers or you can manually install the updates.
