Hello,

The last few months a recently receive questions from clients, can they use Windows 2008 on their current servers ?

Is there any tool that can check the hardware and to report is it compatible with the new Windows server 2008?

The only thing you need to worry about is the minimum system requirements:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/cc196364.aspx

Just remember if you use the bare minimum the server my run slow. The more prudent thing to do is check against the applications you are going to run on the server and verify that they are compatible with Windows Server 2008.

The only other thing is to verify if you want to go 32 and 64bit. You must check that against the application and verify that the processor on the server is 64 bit capable.

Another note: If you use Windows Server 2008 R2 remember that it is 64 bit only. I would recommend trying to move to 64 bit whenever possible .
