MS OutLook search proble

The search function in outlook does not work. For example, “search contacts” does not work. Likewise, the search inbox or search sent items, or similar search, does not work.

Just under the search box for Inbox, it states:

“Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed. Click here for more details.”

When you click for more details, it states:

“Outlook is still indexing your items. Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed.”

It states the same for the sent items, etc.

This appears to have been a known issue.  And the fix (see excerpt) was to have been in the beta2 version of ms outlook 2007.  So I am assuming that MS Office 2007 SP2 addressed the issue. So make sure that you are up to date with the service packs and try to download and install WDS 3.0.

see this link (scroll down to Search Issue): http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/known_issues.htm

Excerpt
We will be shipping Outlook 2007 with a new version of Instant Search technology that is built on top of WDS and is dependent on its presence for search to work. B1TR included a native Office indexing component. In order to provide a consistent search experience across the Windows Explorer, Office applications and any others utilizing the new Windows Desktop Search 3.0 platform, and to optimize system resources, we have decided to build on a single, unified indexing component for Windows. The result of this work will be in Outlook 2007 Beta 2, and therefore require installation of WDS 3.0 at boot time."
