Configure Exchange Server 2007 Step-by-Step

Hi everyone,

i have managed to check SMTP server whehter its running or not using Telnet and did try to send one test mail from one user to another user. The results were healthy.

I need help in moving to next stage where i can configure Exchange server 2007 and use it my organization wide. I have kept all the Roles and rules default at this point of time.

I am requesting everybody to help me out to make this exchange server 2007 on Windows Server2008 64bit to the end i.e. using with outlook 2007.

looking forward to hearing from you with positive reply.

many thanks.

you'll need to verify the CAS server configuration for your outlook clients
take a look at this article

Hi,

while reading your email i found that on my server OWA is already working and my user can send and receive emails on that.

I need to know how to link up with Ms Outlook and use it with my exterdomain i.e. mail.abc.co.uk

looking forward to hearing from you.

many thanks.

that article i provided doesn't cover owa, it covers the steps for configuring the CAS server for Outlook 2007 and later connections

Has Powershell sent you back into the Stone Age?

If managing Active Directory using Windows Powershell® is making you feel like you stepped back in time, you are not alone.  For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why.

hi,

its seems working...in terms of local excahange... i can see mails queued up for delivery.

now i need to know what's the next step. Few things
i have created mail.abc.co.uk domain and pointed to my Public IP.
i think i need to create CATCH ALL.

please correct me where i am wrong.

appreciate your feedback on this.
many thanks.

you need to have an accepted domain configured to receive mail
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124423(EXCHG.80).aspx

you also need to ensure you have a receive connector that will accept anonymous connections from the internet
you just need to update the default receive connector

$con = Get-ReceiveConnector server\default*
$con.PermissionGroups += "AnonymousUsers"
Set-ReceiveConnector $con -PermissionGroups $con.PermissionGroups

to send outside messages you need to create a send connector

from an external source attempt to telnet to your external ip on port 25 and send a message
until the mx record is udpated to point to your server, you will not receive email

telnet 23.34.45.56 25
ehlo domain.com
mail from: you@domain.com
rcpt to: someone@your2007domain.com
data
subject: test message

well, i have tried sending out... but did not work will try on receiving email as you say...

but, i have one more doubt... which is

my local DC is abcsrvr.local
but when i go to Windows SBS Console it confuses me big time.

when i try to configure my outlook it tries on something like this....and asks authorisation
remote.abc.co.uk
well, i tried to configure my outlook on abc@abcsrvr.local it works fine..

but i would like to know is that at the moment i have not disabled or deleted any of my mail boxes from my hosted server. i.e. abc@abc.co.uk is still there working. How do i perform test.

thanks.

Hi guys,

i have tried various things.

by using sbs console i changed internet address to mail.abc.co.uk.
i can get access over the internet ,  Remote Webwork place and Remote Sharing.

but my Ms Outlook is asking for authorisation. on the webmail it works fine but its not working on local desktop. it shows mail.abc.co.uk as a domain and shows me my local dc\user and when i give the password it doesn't authorise me.

any one knows solution to it.

please let me have your help on this....

many thanks.
