How do I repair a corrupt MSN Message History XML file

The XML Message History file for one of my work contacts is suddenly saying it is corrupt. I really need this file as I use it for reference to past conversations.

When I try to view it I see the following error in the error report

arnoldCommented:
compare its stracture to a different functioning file using notepad/wordpad.
alternatively rename the file so you have a reference while can have a record of new exchanges.

Thanks for the suggestion... I tried what you suggested but I couldnt find the line number in question to find the problem.

I actually found a free piece of software called Notepad++ that i was able to turn on line numbers and word wrap and I found the problem.

I first made a backup of my original .XML file.

I loaded the file in Notpad++ and saw there extra tag in line 169 "</tag>" and then a big chunk of Null data.

Once I deleted the extra </log> and the null data, the file loads perfectly!
