Slipstream XP 64 bit- HP laptop

Hi, I made a cd for my laptop 2 years ago (so I can downgrade from vista to xp).

I have a freiends laptop I want to do the same thing to- but I cant use my cd because my friend has a 64 bit laptop.

I got the 64 bit copy of xp but I cant get it to load on the laptop- I assume I am copying the wrong driver to the cd before I create the final Slipstream cd.

The laptop is a DV6929nr so could someone please sugest a driver for me to try (so it will detect the harddrive)

You need the AHCI driver
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2791&DwnldID=18668&lang=eng
Also for a 64-bit operating system I would recommend Windows 7 over XP pro as the 64-bit version of 7 has much better driver and software support then 64-bit xp. Also the 32-bit version of xp will run without issue on a 64-bit capable computer, but if the system has 4Gb or more of ram only around 3.5Gb(maybe more or less depending on its configuration) will be usable.

Hi, thanks for the link. What would the specific driver be (I put a photo below) because I tried doing a cd with several of the ones that say AHCL and it ctashed. I tried my 32 mb cd but it froze up on that one, so I tried making a 64 bit copy with the 64 bit version of xp but it crashed when it did that too (maybe cus I selected more then 1?)

I cant run windows 7 because the OS isnt compatable- it ran very buggy when that was running (hp.com doesnt even give drivers for 7).

Thanks again for the info!
