What is currently the best resource, printed or posted, for learning how to program and develop for the Android OS with very very limited initial knowledge? I found Google's tutorials lacking.

I too found Googles info to provide enough information to newer programmers.

I know that your probably looking for free information, but I found this book: http://www.amazon.com/Hello-Android-Introducing-Development-Programmers/dp/1934356492%3FSubscriptionId%3D14H876SFAKFS0EHBYQ02%26tag%3Dmysuperhub-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3D1934356492

You might also check out these to sites.

The first is based on Googles info, but I found some information that would help me out.
1. http://www.talkandroid.com/google-android-application-guide/

The second is a tutorial to get you started.
2. http://mobiforge.com/developing/story/getting-started-with-android-development

The third is for .NET developers jumping into Java
3. http://www.caffeinedi.com/2010/07/03/beginning-google-android-development-for-net-developers-part-1/

The final one is a compilation of Eclipse and Java video tutorials. Start by selecting "View Lesson 1" link on the left.
4. http://eclipsetutorial.sourceforge.net/totalbeginner.html

I hope this helps,

Yup that helps. Made me realize, it would probably be a good idea to brush up extensively on some Java. Probably going to hold off on buying development books since a new Android version comes out ever 4 months or so.

Thanks!
