I'm hoping that someone can provide a relative Linux rookie, some concise specific instructions on how to setup Sendmail relaying via smarthost to Rackspace's email servers.

I've found lots of stuff on the internet, relating to this but it seems like all the instructions I've found are slightly different, and I'm not sure which to try and follow.

I have a CentOS 5.5 Virtual Server in Rackspace's Cloud, that is being used as a dedicated WordPress host.     I need WordPress / Apache to be able to send outgoing email via Smarthost relay to Rackspace's mail servers using SSL.

CentOS and Sendmail are already installed.  Webmin is also available if it helps in any way.

The server can already resolve the Rackspace mail servers via DNS.

Rackspace mail server is secure.emailsrvr.com on port 465 and requires authentication.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Something like this?:

- In /etc/mail/sendmail.mc add:
     FEATURE(`authinfo',`hash -o /etc/mail/authinfo.db')dnl
     define(`SMART_HOST',`[secure.emailsrvr.com]')dnl

- Create file /etc/mail/authinfo:
     AuthInfo:secure.emailsrvr.com "U:user@domain.com" "P:pAsSWoRd" "M:PLAIN"

- Execute:
     chmod 664 /etc/mail/authinfo
     makemap hash /etc/mail/authinfo < /etc/mail/authinfo
     make
     service sendmail restart
