I just purchased this printer that has a wireless card inside. I loaded the installation disk onto a laptop that is connected to my wireless router (but the laptop is not set up for wireless).

During the setup, I could see my network (BT******) so clicked on it, and inputted my WEP Key. The message that came up was -

You have entered the wrong code. I tried 3 more times, making sure the code was right, but no go.

I then tried to set up the printer on a different laptop, one that has wireless internet working properly. At the point where it lists all networks, it did not even list the wireless router in my home.

What should I do to solve this problem.

Many thanks guys.

Set your firewall settings to allow the printer.

I have BT netProtect Mcafee (it is the full version of Mcafee you get when you have BT broadband)

How would I go about allowing the printer via firewall settings - i don't know how to do that

I have looked on the HP website for support and downloaded their diagnostics tool.

On my wireless laptop, having tried this I gained nothing really. It said that 'windows wireless configuration service is not running'

Below is a print out of the diagnostic :

Could someone also answer this :

Could it be that this printer will not work with my BT home hub ? or will it work, it just needs some configuring ?

I have tried re installing the software and turning the firewall off completely, same thing happened

It just needs some configuring.
Go to network settings and see if the printer allowed access.
