You could create a new mailbox and then give the user delgate access to the Contacts and Calendar.  Or you can create Contact and Calendar items in Public Folders

aussiecomp,
I've never heard of downlaoding only specific folders in outlook. If you wish, you can choose to download only header information for messages.

Can you describe the need for this feature. I am pretty sure, there must be some alternatives.

the customer has a specific need for security purposes, yes this is very unusual...

More info:

Main laptop connnects to a hosted exchange server: ok
iphone connects to hosted exchange server: ok
need second laptop to only have a copy of contacts, calendar and notes: no mail folders (connects to an alternate pop server)
I have tried syncing the iphone with the second laptop and the notes and contacts come across ok
The calendar however does not. It creates a new calendar in outlook (tried this with outlook 2007, 2010) and does not sync the required info
The only alternative that I can see is to sync outlook with the exchange server information minus the mail data... I hope this helps cause I'm stuck

With same credentials on both laoptops, this seems very difficult.
Sugegsted Solution

1. Create another account for login to Secondary Laptop
2. assign permission to that account on calendar and conatct folders of the mailbox
3. Configure Outlook for the new account created on secondary laptop

Hi Guys thanks for your help on this one. I was able to work around this issue by using Plaxo to sync the required information (calendar and contacts only) between the two computers. Seems to be working ok in this configuration so will stick with it. thanks again for all of your help!
