Moving Clients from one SEPM to another

We have one site with around 120 clients.

We had a server which ran Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and updated all the clients.

This server has now failed and we have installed SEPM on another server. The problem is, all the clients are still looking for the old server and therefore not updating their definitions.

Is there any easy way to point all the clients to receive updates from the new server without having to uninstall/reinstall Symantec on all 120 of them?

Yes. this can be done with a Symantec tool that comes with SEP called sydrop.exe. It's located on the CD, it's not part of the default installation of SEPM or SEP.

Simply take the sylink.xml file from a working installation (c:\program files\symantec\symantec endpoint protection\sylink.xml) connected to the new server (in the management group you want), and use sydrop.exe to apply it to all of your machines.

This can be done via login script or GPO. sydrop.exe supports a silent mode flag so users won't even know this is happening. sysdrop /? will give you all of the options.
