This message is not really an error message, just an informational one.  Basically, project server is waiting for your login credentials.  This can happen if you have more than one instance for Project, or have selected the manually control option.  Find the login box, select the appropriate instance, enter credentials and click login/ok.

Thanks . Please explain the selected manually control option.  Project Server  has been set as windows authentication and user did complete windows authentication to llogin to the network.
At this point where does he find the login box. He did logout and login again and the error repeated .
We finally rebooted the server and that helped him, but it would help to know if we can avoid this issue without doing a reboot,

The manually control item I referred to is in the Project Server Accounts window, where you can configure your preference on how you connect to Office Project Server 2007 in the When Starting section:

- If you select Automatically detect connection state, Project will be set to automatically detect and make a connection to the specified default server. If a default server is not specified, then Project will open offline with no server connections.
- Select Manually control connection state if you prefer to select a server to connect to each time that you open Project. Use this option if you have multiple servers you frequently access, or if you sometimes prefer to use Project offline.

This is discussed in detail in TechNet here:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197587(office.12).aspx

If the server is not set to connect at default, MS Project will prompt you to choose which server to connect to.
