Creating a New Joomla Component - Backend Development

I need some help in developing the Administrator Backend portion of a new component. I have it already showing in the Backend Menu, I just need upon clicking to go straight to a form (like Global configuration), where I can pull the data from my custom table into a form, modify the form values and then just SAVE it. Any simple examples would be much appreciated.

Hi

if you have a look at joomla website in the developer section there is a demo of how to make a component I used then when we first started developing components

if you can't find it I'll post a link and some sample code when I wake up

Thanks for your reply. If you could re-read my post, I would appreciate it. I have already taken a look at the Hello Greeting demo and it DOES NOT go directly to a form like GLOBAL CONFIG backend. It goes to a listing page.

Thanks.

This is the link I was talkign about, is this the one you read. It details creating the admin backend interface.

What I would do is look at a component that has what you are after, for instance I used teh csvimproved admin.html.php file which shows how they generate the forms in teh backend to allow you to create the settings pages and the interactive forms for creating custom csv import templates.

Most of the back end files run from a php file a html.php file and various controller files.

The best bet is find a really simple component or one which does what you want and play around with it.

It needs alot of php knowledge to create really intricate admin backends but its not to ohard as most components are open source and you can see how other developers did it.

If you want to post some screenshots of what your trying to acheive or some sample code, (change the variable names if you dont want to be specific about what it is your creating) and ill be able to advise you better

Yes. This is the one. Again, their example goes to a listing page after clicking on the component in the menu. WeI can't figure out how to get the initial Menu to GO TO the form immediately - IE click on Global Configuration. You go directly to the form to make changes and SAVE. We need to do the same. We have the component name listing on the component menu and when we click on it, we need it to go to a form - not a listing page. We are new to MVS and are having trouble figuring out how to do this.

Any help would be appreciated.
