Hello Experts,

Have a dire issue at hand. We have over 700 active directory and email accounts for users who are non-employees of our company. What we would like to do is send a notification email to their personal emails notifying them of the company email whenever an email is sent to their account at our company.

Is this possible? Please advise.

Thanks!

yes it is possible. you'll have to create a contact for each of the 700 users and set the users emails to forward to the corresponding contacts

can use this to create the contacts in exchange in bulk. but the forwarding part will have to be done manually. http://exchangestories.blogspot.com/2008/03/importing-mail-contacts-to-exchange.html

Great stuff, thanks Mkris9.

Is there a way to send the non-employee a notification email by creating an Exchange server-side rule or would we have to go into each and every account to create a client-side rule? We don't want to forward the actual email to their personal account, just a notification that they have mail waiting in their account from our company.

no no... Can't send notifications.. it will have to be the actual email..

and its not a client side rule. its a server side forwarding that needs to be set up using EMC or EMS. http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF015.html

We plan to develop a script that runs as a service to forward notifications, but Mkris9's solution for creating the contacts in bulk was great!
