Exchange 2003 to exchange 2010 RGC mail flow slow or dropped.

We recenlty migrated from exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. When started moving mailbox from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 the mail flow between 2003 to 2010 is very slow or some mails are dropped.  The SMTP connector always shows active mode.

The Exchange 2010 environemnt running Exchange HUB/CAS  together two Servers and Two Mailbox Server running with DAG and both are in same site but two data center (Extened IP Segement means 1HUB/CAS  & 1MBX in 1 Datacenter and Other Datacenter 1HUB/CAS & 1MBX) .  Exchange 2003 Enviroment running two Exchange servers, each in separate domain.


manulally deleted  and recreated RGC, Removed SMTP TLS changed authentication setting but not working.  one important noted, when i connecting SMTP through port commnad prompt the Banner does not come properlly for both Exchange 2010 HUB, and i could not generate any emails from the cmd prompt. however its working for local server. The SMTP 25port banner not comming for only remote connection.

I beleive there could be SMTP setting issues or  permission issues in exchange 2010 SMTP Connector. can any one help me...

the SMTP banner looks like below for both Exchange 2010 HUB when establishing from remote server and not accepting any SMTP mails.. 220**************************************************************************************

Slow mail flow between RGC you may need to check if you have any SMart host mentioned in SMTP virtual server under Delivery Tab, if yes then remove it and get SMTP connector created for the same, also under configure button make sure there is no External DNS it is not recommanded, you need to add the External DNS IP in the Forwarders of the DNS.

For the banner that you getting 220******************* is the issue with the cisco firewall that you may be using, you can follow the article to fix the issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320027

yes, we have cisco firewall between all the servers, let me check with network team and update the status.

Yes, we also facing too much issues in firwell, however the network team not understanding the issues and not trying to help.. now i got some good articale to cliam firewall issues.

Thanks Guys, Finally I fixed issue with the help of Network Team... The issue was with Firewall access (4th time we faced major issue because of network firewall)... We have very much irresponsible  network team that they will block everything for internal network itself and they will give answer for security issue.. for anything.....
