Problems accessing Act database

Problems accessing the Act database. The database file has not been changed or modified. When opening Act the message that is appearing is Error: "The database <Database name> could not be accessed. In order to access this database, check your network connection and verify that your database server is available. It may be necessary to disable any firewall software...". Please advise as the database will not open even after moving the location to the desktop.
