Microsoft ForeFront For Exchange And Windows Small Business Server 2008

Can anyone tell me exactly how Microsoft Forefront For Exchange actually works? Is there a software which needs to be installed on the Small Business Server? When I installed Windows Small Business Server 2008 I did not tick the box to setup the trial. I have contacted a few Microsoft Resellers and they have given me pricing per user, per month. Does Microsoft scrub the e-mails before it reaches the server? Can someone explain exactly how this software works?

Well it depends on what you're looking for...There is hosted forefront where email wiould be scoured before moving on to your server OR you can run the software on your server itself
My preference is a Firewall (which is required for SBS anyway) which does UTM (Universal Threat Managment)    Its cleaned before hitting the server but you still have local control.    Second option would be 3rd party scanning like hosted forefront
