E-Commerce: Alternatives to TicketMaster

I have a client who sells tickets to performances of 2000 people or less.  They currently use an outfit called Front Gate Tickets.  Front Gate is cheap (really cheap) but a little flakey.  I have no interest in going with TicketMaster.  (I have a real problem with their monopolistic practices and their exorbitant fees.)  So, the question is, who else is out there?

There are many on-line solutions like Event Brite http://www.eventbrite.com/
They charge as follows

#  2.5% of ticket value + $0.99 per ticket  Maximum fee of $9.95
+ Credit Card Processing: 3% per transaction

Personally I would just use a shopping cart like Zen Cart or Joomla  with a shopping cart extension like Seber Cart or the many other shopping cart extensions available to it. You would have hosting + secure certificates and your fees to take into account but one up and running it is the cheaper option. Bear in mind that it will still cost about 3% + a small transaction fee to process credit card payments.

fearialtog,

Can you recommend a few others.  I'm inclined to steer clear of the CMS solutions this time around.

The two I recommend are listed below both are similar because Zen Cart grew out of the OsCommerce project. Zen Cart has a lot of extensions available making customisations simple. Both provide easy access to many payment gateways and are fairly straight forward to set up.

Zen Cart - Full Version Free
