Outlook 2010 and corrupt .PST

This is Outlook 2010 connected to Exchange 2008 on an SBS2008 server

We upgraded a workstation. Previously it was Vista with Outlook 2007. The user had a 900Meg .PST file with his archived emails.

Outlook 2010 seemed to be working ok until I attached this .PST file. Then it hung completely. I went back to the old machine and copied the archive emails back into his main mailbox again. Then in Outlook 2010 I created a new .PST file and tried to move the emails into it. It crashed again.

Is there a known problem with Outlook 2010 and .PST files?

Have you tried the scanpst.exe on the pst file in order to see if perhaps that file got corrupted?

I dont think corruption was the problem because it happened also when I tried to move the files from the temp Mailbox folder into a new .PST file. It happened also when I had the .PST file on the C: drive.

I've managed it now. Instead of moving the files all at once, I moved them in batches of 100 or so. I tried 3 times previously. There were 3000 messages in one folder. It didn't like that at all.
