is there a way to configure outlook to only pull 90 days of IMAP mail
I have outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010. My gmail account has 5 years of data, and when I open outlook it takes forever to sync all the headers, and it does this frequently. I use both Outlook and webmail, but I would like to use outlook for only the current 90 days of mail. Is this possible?
There is a setting in GMail called "Limit IMAP folders to contain no more than this many messages" where you can select a value of 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000 or no limit. It can be found under "Forwarding and POP/IMAP".

Actually, if I understand this correctly this is exactly the behavior I want. For anything older than 90 days, I want to use the web interface. So under no circumstance do I want all my mail downloaded by my IMAP client.
Do I understand this correctly?

That's how it appears to be working for me on my phone. Unfortunately, I have not been able to dig up any extensive documentation on this Lab to verify that.
But I want to point out that there is a known issue with this (see link in my above answer): If you apply this lab, you may not be able to remove it or undo its behaviour. At least there is an option for 10000 emails at the bottom of the list, so in most cases, being unable to remove it is a moot point.
Caveat emptor!
