svchost.exe - Application Error
A friend of mine is getting this error message on ALL 3 of the PC's in his house
"svchost.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x00c896bc" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be written."
This appears first as a standard Windows memory error (hit OK to close, Cancel to debug) and then comes:
Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows
To help protect your computer, windows has closed this program
Generic Host Process for WIN32 Services
This shows up as an info window, similar to how a Windows Help file would be displayed.
This series of errors pop-up upon boot about a dozen times before you can use the computer.
------------
I have tried to run the KB894391 patch, however, since these computers are all running SP3, that patch was included in SP3.
-I did disable and manually register all the automatic update services and files.
Additionally the only thing that he recalls as being commonly installed on ALL 3 pc's is their Printer driver software to access and print to the wireless HP Printer

Also , Please make sure the machine is most updated with Regards to Windows & application updates, I have seen several cases where clients reported similar issues, then reported again that the problem "went away on its own" after running windows update.
If you want to find the application that is causing the problem, use process explorer and look at the svchosts. You probably have a lot of them running so it may take a while. compare the results on all three machines and look at common lines. Then you can download and run dependency walker to see what these programs depend on. This will point you to the offending program. You then have a choice of removing the application, cleaning the registry and reinstalling it IF it IS ACTUALLY needed. Otherwise just lose it completely.

Outstanding! Disabling Windows Image Acquisition service seemed to do the trick!
