HI,

I have purchased the essentials package, and started setting it up. ESXI is managed by VC 4.0, which in turn is a VM on ESXI host. (not sure if this is best method, but drasically need to free up space in my cupboard of a server room :O})
I also have 7 other VM servers and a couple of desktops.

I was thinking of upgrading VCenter to 4.5 and ESXI to 4.1 but not sure which order. Do I upgrade Vcenter first?

I also have a spare server with ESXI 4.0 installed. Is there any benefit in adding this as a host in Vcenter? Could I use WinSCP to copy VMS between them.

Can clustering be used without using HA, DRS or vmotion? (no budget left)

Any advice is much appreciated as I am getting overwelmed reading the vast amounts of resources on the web.

TIA
