I recently demoted a domain controller from the parent domain in my organization. I cleaned up some of the problems associated with the server and then re-promted it. Since then, I am unable to replicate between this site (parent site) and a child domain. I have a half dozen other child domains that are working just fine.
So far, I have rebuilt my DNS zones at the parent site and recreated the delegate accees to each of the child sites. I have also reregistered DNS on each domain controller between the two sites. I have validated the trusts from both ends. However, at the parent end, I am challenged to enter in a password to validate the incoming trusts and when I enter in admin credentials, the validation is successful.
I am getting access denied errors in event viewer that relate to replication and on the ADC connector that was setup between the sites.
Trying to force replication manually between the sites through manually created site links also results in access denied.
The bottom line is that everything looks OK in event viewer except for the messages related to this situation. Is there a password of some kind that needs to be reset here?
