Sorting by two variables in Excel

I have two fields on an Excel spreadsheet.  One field is a member_id number, the other field is a generated sequence number which has the number of records for that ID.  I am trying to sort by descending sequence of sequence number within ascending sequence of member_id.  I am using custom sort, but I cannot seem to get the sequence number to sort in descending sequence.  The sequence number is created by a formula, whic adds 1 if the member_id is the same and sets to e1 one different.

How can I sort this file?

You need only to mark the complete spreadsheet then click on Data->Sort . Now there will appear a dialog asking for the fields you want to sort. You can set "ascending" or "descending" for every selected field.

Probably, you have a column formatted as number and the other column formatted as text. When you used the Custom Sorting, have you come across with Sort Warning? See screenshot below:
