802.11 Network Adaptor

All of the sudden when I re-boot, I get the following message;
The radio on your 802.11 network adaptor is disabled.  Use the hardware radio control switch to enable it.
What does this mean?  I use Windows XP.

If you're using a laptop then there is probably a small switch that is used to control whether or not your wireless card is enabled or disabled. Check to see if you have something like that. Also, if you are using a laptop, please include the model number.
If you use a Dell laptop on the (usually left) side there will be a switch labeled with a I and O or a radio tower ((/\))). Flip that switch and you should never see that message again.

Alternatively whatever program you use to manage your wireless connection could have turned it off. Post what program it is, or a screen shot of your programs folder/system tray and i can give exact instructions how to check it. Otherwise just look through until you see something about "disable/enable radio".

I have an HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop.  I have never looked for or even knew that there was such a switch.  The only buttons I work with are the audio +/- or mute which are on top of the laptop above the keyboard.
