I wanted to know if its possible to have a SQL 2008 R2 SSRS instance utilizing a SQL 2008 database instance for the SSRS Report Server DB? I'm not talking about a datasource for reporting.

Basically the scenario is, we have an existing SQL 2008 instance. I'll be setting up a new SharePoint 2010 Environment that will use the SQL 2008 instance for SP various databases. As part of the SharePoint 2010 Environment I will be including a SSRS SQL 2008 R2 server (for Report Builder 3.0 and Native SP List reporting) isetup in SharePoint Integrated Mode. Can I point the SSRS SQL 2008 R2 at the SQL 2008 instance as the location to for its Report Server dbs (ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB).

Will this work or do I need to get my DBA team to upgrade to SQL 2008 R2? I'm looking for confirmation from someone who has successfully done this or some explicit statement from MS that it will work. Thanks
