Visio 2003 and hyperlinks to *.bmp and *.xls
Having an issue with Visio 2003 and hyperlinks to *.bmp files and *.xls files.
After creating the hyperlink to the files that reside in the same folder saving the change then saving as a webpage. I'm able to click on the shape then it takes me to the bmp or excel file no problem. When I do this from another machine however that hyperlink doesn't work. And I can't quite understand why. I will upload a simple example here for your review.
Thanks Much!

Thanks for your response...
the folder and all it's content including the *.xls and *.bmp are in fact located on a share. In this case
O:\AAA IT Facilities\AAA IT Facilities World Wide.htm
I have the users create a shortcut from that folder for *.htm on thier desktop. When they use this method they successfuly move between pages and are even successful at using RDP and HTTP hyperlinks it just seems that the *.bmp files and *.xls files are not visible to them. None of the users have a path in thier 'mycomputer' to that share after they create a shortcut on thier desktop and they don't have an O drive either.
Thanks

I'm going to accept your solution. However my boss allowed me to upgrade to Visio 2010 so this issue has gone away for me. I appreciate your responses and now on to a whole new series of questions regarding Visio 2010 and the affect on older files.
Oh well fun fun fun

So to fix this, you have to put the files in a place or on a web page that is accessible for all people that also can access your diagram. This could be
a) a common share used by everybody in your organization
b) a web page where the user can download the document needed
c) an ftp server (you then have to link to its ftp address)
So instead of making a link to the local (only local will work then) file server count.xls, you need to use a general reverence like \\CompanyServer\Commonshar
There are advantages and disadvantages with all these ways, so the best solution will depend on what you or your it-people are able to do and what is already exising.
Hope this helps, and if something is unclear please do not hesitate to ask further questions!
