Outlook Sender's name is wrong

I have  customer who is configuring their email account in Outlook 2007 on Windows 7.  They use a single generic email account for three different people.  The problem is that regardless of which machine an email is sent from, and how Outlook is configured, the mail is received from "Joe Smith", when in fact Joe Smith is nowhere to be found in the configuration.  They want to use a generic Sent From address, like "Smith and Associates", but regardless of how the Display Name is configured in Outlook, it comes from "Joe Smith".

I suggested that the problem was with how the account's Display Name was configured with their email provider, but the provider ways it's not them.

Can I get any confirmation on this?  Or suggestions where it's picking up the name "Joe Smith"?

Thanks,

Evan

save the mail to a pst and delete the mail profile.  reconfigure outlook for all 3 machines.

is it pop coming from the isp.  what does the mail internet header say. right clidk the message and select 'message options'
If the mailbox is hosted on an exchange server have the hosting provider check the display name for the user in AD (active directory). I've see this happen many time working in support.

Also you may want to get the full internet headers as stated by simpsonehh.
