which version of quickbooks should I use
Client runs a trucking brokerage company. They have shippers and clients who need shipping.
Most of the clients have regular pickup days but sometimes then need a special pickup or want a shipping container.
Profit is made on the difference between what is the negotiated cost for a job and what the client is charged.
I need to know which version of quickbooks to use. They are a 2 person office.

QB pro comes in many different version such as contractor, realestate.. etc.
HalCHub,
Yes I understand and there isn't a quickbooks that matches your application. Any choice that your customer makes will be settling for the best of the options. I would choose General Business and see what I could do to make it mine.
I think if you call quickbooks they will tell you the same thing for this application. They may have some ideas for workarounds but I am sorry to say that none of them are going to be specific enough.

i think the contractor version may work but I am not sure since truckers are contractors and clients are clients. The broker would be a GC.

You will need 2 copies if they both will use the program at the same time. You will install on one PC as a server and share the file to the other. It is straightforward and when you call to activate the licenses you will tell them that you want to "Merge" the licences.
It really is a good product but it cannot do what everyone wants or the way they want it.
