I am trying to return a date from an oracle DB (10g) using PHP.  I'm not having much luck.
I've different variations of the code displayed but nothing works.  The datatype used in the DB is of course "Date".  When I try to return the date (simply) I get the timestamp tacked on to it.  As this is a request for a date to show as a birthday, the timestamp is not necessary (or used).  Here is what I have ended up with that doesn't work:

(I understand - sort of - why PHP returns an "Undefined index" error.  It's is looking for the value in the SELECT line of the sql statement and not finding it - I think). I appreciate any suggestions.
