Queued status on Backup Exec 2010 when trying to do any action on a Tape Drive
All,
I have Backup Exec 2010 installed on a Windows 2008 server. On have several backup to folder devices that have backup jobs associated that run correctly and have done for a while now.
I have added a Quantum 1 tape drive to my backup server. This is picked up by Windows and by Symantec and I can see it in the Devices on Backup Exec. I have managed to run a test back up to the drive successfully. However when I try to do anything to the tape now the job is displayed as a Active state with a status job status of queued.
The only way to cancel the job is to restart the BE services. I have run the auto update utility to get the latest updates for BE, removed the tape drive from BE and let BE pick it back up again, but still cant run any jobs.
Cheers All

Using native windows backup can you run a test backup job to the same device?

Hi both, I'm not back in the office until tomorrow, I'll post the information that you've requested tomorrow

Hi, I am using a HP proliant DL120 G6 and a Quantum Ultrium LTO3. The cable lenght is 50 cm maximum.
I have looked at Windows backup and the device is not visible to back up data too. BE does recognise the disk.

We need to know exactly which server, HBA, tape drive connect method, tape drive model number, cable lengths, and what else is attached to the HBA and how (i.e., the complete topology).
*Sometimes*, thought, you can resolve an issue like this by using Quantum drivers instead of BE, or vice-versa... but I never expect that to work.
