Debugging JavaScript with Firebug

I'm using Dreamweaver to build an application that uses the jQuery library along with a custom script to dynamically populate a div in an html document using AJAX to pull in some XML data. When I try to debug the custom JavaScript linked to my html file, Firebug defaults to the jQuery library, which is first linked script. I can choose my file from a drop-down list but the debugger defaults back to the library after each step. Is there a way to keep the jQuery library out of the picture during debugging?
