asked on

a way to recover corrupted aspx and aspx.vb files?

Dear Experts,
Good evening!
I have been having a serious issue and looked around google for a solution but so far unsuccessful, I wonder if there could be a solution for me at all!

here is what happened! I have a web application project on my C drive and I forgot to back it up before restoring an older C Drive Image on my drive. So after I finished restoring a backup image of the drive I tried to use several Data Recovery programs to try to recover my project files, I managed using "Recover my Files" program to recover the project folder with its files, by examing the size of each file it appeared it is in the right file sizes, but when I open them in my Visual Studio 2008 all I get is garbage characters in the file totally unreadable, so obviously the files are corrupted, these files are *.aspx files and *.aspx.vb files, and there are few *.master files (masterpages).

I wonder if anyone could suggest something I could try to recover the content in those corrupted files. I wouldn't mind to pay some reasonable amount for a software or service to recover these files content, otherwise I would have to develop the entire project from scratch once again, which will be a very awful solution, I hope someone could help me with this, maybe someone could suggest a tip or solution for me to try.

Thanks in advance.

Best wishes,

~salman~

Dear Cs97jim3,
Thanks mate for the reply! I really appreciate it!
That sounds great, I'll give it a try, maybe they have a trial version I could test with, and 100 is not too bad if it can get the job done, it would surely save me a lot of trouble. I'll give a try and will come back to post another reply!
Thanks Jim,

Best wishes,

Hi Jim,
I have just downloaded the software and did a full super search, it found the files I am looking for, but they were still corrupted after the recovery process.
I think the only option I have would be to start my project from scratch, it will take me sometime but eventually I think I'll get it done.
thanks again Jim, I really appreicate it mate!
Best wishes,

The suggested recovery software was good indeed, but it couldn't recover my files, though it located them but the recovery wasn't successfuly, i think they were corrupted beyond any chance for recovery. I decided to start again my project from scratch and go from there. Thanks!
