Replace % with - (dash) in url

I'm using this custom tag ( to generate search engine friendly URL on my site.  It works well, the only problem is that it's not very human readable when all spaces are shown as "%" in the URL.

For example:

I'd like to replace the "%" with a dash "-" so the url would be easier to read.

Anyone know how I might be able to accomplish this?
