Windows 2008 R2 Event Log error 2
The event log service will not start in my windows 2008 server
it just says could not start the service with error 2
I did an SFC command to check for any corrupted system file and found everything is okay.
In some old posts regarding windows 2000 they said to remove the EVT files to a temp file and reboot the server. But I think these files are not the same in WIndows 2008. although the procedure might be similar.
I need to know what is the procedure in the case o WIndows 2008.

1. Change the owner on the %windir%\System32\Logfiles folder to the Administrator.
2. Start the computer in Safe Mode without networking.
3. Open a command prompt as administrator
4. Type "net stop winmgmt" (without quotes) and press enter to make certain the WMI service is not running.
5. Go to the %windir%\system32\WBEM\ and rename the Repository folder.
6. Restart the system to normal mode.
7. Open a command prompt as administrator.
8. Type "net stop winmgmt" without quotes and press enter to stop the wmi service.
9. Type "winmgmt /resetRepository" and restart the system.
10. If the Event Viewer still cannot be started, I am afraid that we need to re-install the problematic system since the WMI provider may be crashed.
