Is there a PowerPoint Viewer for Mac OS X

We are trying to open a PowerPoint Presentation on this eMac:

eMac Power PC G4, 1 Ghz
Mac OS X 10.5.8
1 GB Ram

We installed OpenOffice.org and can open the PowerPoint file within OpenOffice's presentation software "Impress" and then click "Play" to view the PowerPoint presentation.

Does "Impress" have a presentation viewer that will launch when opening a PowerPoint file?

Is there any PowerPoint Viewer for Mac that will launch a PowerPoint file?

Thanks!

MS Powerpoint viewer 98 really is only supposed to work up to 9.x
some have gotten it to work up to 10.4
running in classic
but everyone seems to agree no worky in 11.x

try open source alternatives like neoffice
will allow you to preview without even needing to open file

If you want to just transfer and view the file on the mac as opposed to editing it in PowerPoint, impress or keynote, then you could try saving the presentation as a self-contained PowerPoint show or even a movie - flash or .mov...

Thanks for all the comments, I'm back at it today.  I'm going to give some of these ideas a try.

Just to clarify, I'm not creating presentations.  I'm looking for a way to view PowerPoint presentations that I receive.   So, I don't mind having an office suite.  I just want the PP presentation to launch in a viewer without opening presentation software.

We are looking at purchasing iWorks and wonder if anyone here on EE knows if that will resolve my issue.  That being that I want to view PowerPoint presentations without opening presentation software.

Many thanks.

Thanks to the experts here at EE, my issue is resolved.

Interestingly, the Neo Office works best for us.  We double click on the .pps Power Point file and it launches the Neo Office Impress and then automatically starts the presentation.

While it's not a stand alone viewer, it's the simplest solution to set this up for my retired mother.

Many thanks for the help.
