I'm trying to use iconv to convert an ascii format file to ebcdic. What I read led me to believe that I would do that with iconv -f IS08859-1 -t IBM-1047 words >converted, but I got an error complaining about invalid input. Can you help me?

From the pictures it appears you are typing in the incorrect code page  The from (-f) code page is ISO (eye-ess-oh) and you seem to be typing IS0 (eye-ess-zero).
