CDO 1.21 cannot be installed on server that has Outlook installed

I need to install CDO 1.21 in order to complete the BES Express 5.0 installation.  Microsoft's site is pretty definite in saying that it cannot be installed if Outlook is installed.  And sure enough, I get this message:

Message API and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 cannot be installed with Microsoft Outlook.

This is a server that has office 2003 installed (for Remote Desktop - Terminal Server users).
It has the following installed:

Sharepoint
Office 2003
SQL 2005 Server (SP3)

Any way around not removing office?  Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

BES will break when you install Outlook.

Maybe you need to get a dedicated server for BES express or place in a VM on that server.

Hope this helps,
Shree

How about removing outlook? Will it strip out the necessary files?

Yes, remove the outlook from the server and do not install it in future.

You need to install the Exchange Server tools, i.e., System Manager, etc. Make sure you install the latest Exchange service pack too, and this will install the CDO components you need.

As per the previous suggestions, make sure Outlook isn't installed.
