The service may only be required for Teamviewer to act as server and not as client.

For example PC-A connects to PC-B. PC-A displays contents of PC-B, then PC-A is acting as client and PC-B is acting as server. So PC-A does not require Teamviewer service to be running at all times.

Ravi, it is working the other way..
PC-A is displaying PC-B, but has the service running, but not PC-B.
How are you verifying that the service is not running?

I would generally not bother if it works when the service is not running.

I am not a teamviewer software expert but I guess that the TW service may be there for other optional things which TW has to offer like file sharing, chat and features other than viewing the remote PCs screen.

I guess in that case the TW executable that is running in windows Task manager is sufficient to do its work.

We may need to consult the TW documentation to actually find out what the TW service does before assuming that it is for viewing purpose only.

TW does have an option to auto start with windows & you can configure it to access your PC remotely wihout user intervention. Maybe the TW service is used there and at that time. I happen to remember so but need to be at my PC to verify where I actually read it but guess it won't be possible at least for the next couple of days.

OK- great points- also could it be working differently in different OS?
No, it works the same way in every version of windows (32 bit or 64 bit could be a little different but principally not). Just the User Interface you get is a little different.

the website says "TeamViewer Host can run as a system service and enables 24/7 access to remote computers with login/logout and remote reboot capabilities."

perhaps that is the difference i am seeing between the 2 PCs? one is installed/run one way (24/7) and other not?
Maybe you are right here but I cannot say for sure since I have limited access to the internet now.

It will take me a few more days to respond to what you are asking as I'm out of town with very limited internet access.
