Please tell me how a Firefox sidebar (that I created) can be automatically opened, when a webpage (that I create) is loaded. Is there an JavaScript code that I can add to the webpage that will do this?

A firefox sidebar like the bookmarks sidebar, or the history sidebar, cannot directly be controlled from your webpage / javascript. What exactly are you trying to do? Is this a firefox extension that you're writing? Then it may be possible.

If the sidebar that you are referring to is not a browser sidebar, its just a column in your page itself, then you can write some script to slide it open on page load.

It is a FireFox extension (It is listed under 'Extensions' of 'Add Ons', but it is located at the same place you would find bookmarks sidebar.

This page provides information as to how this can be done, but it does not seem to be working for me.

I do not think you can open the sidebar from a web page.
You can add a page to the bookmarks to be opened in the sidebar

Well. That is what I thought. But, the link I mentioned has this code which is supposed to open the sidebar. (Its not working for me though. Wondering if anyone knows how and where to implement it)

toggleSidebar("viewHistorySidebar", true);

But you do not have access to those functions in a web page.

You cannot manipulate the sidebar in a web page.
