Error on Win 7 pc: windows could not start the pnkbstra service on local computer

Hello,

Im unable to start the punkbuster A and B services on my Win 7 pc.  The error I get when I try to start  is:  "Windows could not start the pnkbstra service on local computer.  Error 3: the system cannot find the path specified."

I am able to start/stop other services in the list.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

I don't use it, but the best thread I saw was here;

It may not be Windows 7 compliant. Is your Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit; Pro or other consumer system?

ASKER

This is Windows 7 64
I run Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, and Vista 64-bit before that. I had to replace/upgrade a good deal of software to run on 64-bit. At this point, I would say that the software service is not 64-bit compliant.

Take a look at http://www.itknowledge24.com/ and see if UAC trust shortcut might assist.  .. Thinkpads_User

I was able to get punkbuster B on this win7 disk by going thru punkbuster's setup program but it wont stay on my pc.  It disappears after a couple hours and I have to keep doing the setup program to get it back.
It appears that punkbuster A is installed and stays installed.

For some reason, it fixed itself, and seems to be working right now.  I have no idea what changed.
