Greetings,

We are getting a new computer from work, these are the two available:

Lenovo ThinkPad T410 i5-540M 2.53GHz 4GB 160GB 72K RPM 14.1in WXGA+ (1440x900) DVD-ROM 5.0lbs

Lenovo ThinkPad X201 i5-540M 2.53GHz 4GB 160GB 72K RPM 12.1in WXGA (1280x800)  2.89lbs

Both seem to be the same computing power, if pricing is not a factor, would there be any reason Ione would select T410 over the x201?

Thanks,

The T has a DVD bay and the X does not. Other than that they are very similar except the X is smaller and lighter.

The display of the t410 is larger and has the higher resolution. You get more desktop real estate that way.

Basically, it depends on for what you are using it.
If you never need DVD/CD on travel and you do travel a lot, size matters.
If you rarely use it for traveling but more in the office eventually even with a docking station and an external monitor the smaller one might be ok as well in the office,

but
if you need the large display for your work and it does not trouble you to have the heavier weight, then I'd go for the bigger screen with DVD ROM.

The orginal question was "what is the difference" and my first comment has answered that.

In terms of preference, I carry a T61p because:
1. It has  DVD Writer
2. It has a bigger screen (as all of us noted)
3. The p model was the last T that has the loveable 4:3 aspect ratio.
4. I want all the above, it fits in my wonderful travelling bag, and I can handle the weight.
