"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

hi nice to meet you too
rockiroadsCommented:
could be a number of reasons. first thing I tend to do is disable and renable wireless connection. I also try the winsock fix.
have a look here at other things http://compnetworking.about.com/od/windowsnetworking/ht/limited-connect.htm
acdcomptechAuthor Commented:
the winsock fix doesn't work but when i do ipconfig /renew it says an error occured because an operation was attempted on something that is not a socket
