After that i was recommended to make sure that the user i am running the installation on is added to the Exchange Administrators group, i've now added this user to that group and i am trying to run the installation again but get this error:

Cannot find Microsoft Exchange Server 2007

You can only run this tool on a Windows Small Business Server 2008 primary server that is running Microsoft Exchange 2007 with service pack 1.

Anyway to bypass the SP1 requirement and get SP2 to attempt the installation again?

Have tried the installation using Exchange Server 2007 SP2 Installation Tool ?

OR install the Exchange Server 2007 SP2 using "Run as Administrator"

Click on the Start button.
Type: CMD but do not hit [Enter].
Right click on the CMD that comes up in the search results and click on Run as Administrator.
Navigate to the Download Exchange 2007 SP 2 directory.
Type the name of the file including the extension and hit [Enter].

In case if "Run as Administrator" does not work then assign FULL CONTROL permission to the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Mailbox\address\smtp\amd64" directory and try to install the SP2 again

Hope this helps.
