Service clr_optimization is not running

On a large number of SBS 2003 machines I manage, I get alerts that the automatic service, clr_optimization_v4.0.30319_32 or clr_optimization_v2.0.50727_32, is stopped.

Should this service be always running?

Should I change it to manual? Will I break anything by doing so?

Or should I just ignore this alert?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Thanks cs97jjm3, that is exactly the information I was looking for.

From the Microsoft article linked,

"The behavior of the Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0.30319_X86 service not running even though it has an automatic startup type is normal for this service. If there is nothing for it to do it stops itself automatically."
